capiton successfully sells its stake in KM Packaging to the ALPLA Group

capiton AG and other shareholders have successfully sold their stake in KM Packaging GmbH (“KM Packaging”) to the ALPLA Group (“ALPLA”).

Based in Ubstadt-Weiher (Baden-Württemberg), KM Packaging is a leading manufacturer of high-quality injection-moulded solutions for closures and dispensing systems, particularly for applications in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food sectors. With six sites in Germany, Austria, Poland and the USA, the company produces over 6.5 billion parts annually and employs around 500 people.

capiton VI first invested in KM Packaging in 2021 as part of a succession solution, alongside the company’s management. Since then, KM Packaging has expanded its market position, acquired new customers, and successfully advanced its innovation and sustainability strategy.

With this acquisition, ALPLA – a global leader in plastic packaging and recycling – is strengthening its ALPLAinject division. The ownership transition opens up new prospects for KM Packaging: in addition to being integrated into ALPLA’s global network, the transaction enables the company to further develop its strengths as a renowned manufacturer of premium closures for tubes, bottles and jars. All sites, as well as the workforce and management, will remain in place under ALPLAinject.

“We would like to sincerely thank Klaus Mauer and his team for the trust-based and highly successful collaboration over the past years. We are pleased to have found a strong strategic partner in ALPLA to support KM Packaging’s next growth phase and are confident that the company will continue its success story under its new ownership,” said Roumyana Schnettler.

KM Packaging Managing Director Klaus Mauer added: “ALPLA and KM Packaging, both tradition-rich family businesses, share core values such as trust, responsibility and the highest standards of quality. Going forward, our valued customers will benefit from a broader product portfolio, innovative system solutions, and global service and delivery capabilities.”
