GreenGate Partners advises Redalpine on seed financing of Proxima Fusion
GreenGate Partners successfully advised Redalpine on the lead investment of the seed financing of Proxima Fusion. The Munich-based start-up is the first spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) and aims to build the first generation of fusion power plants using Quasi-Isodynamic (QI) stellarators.
Proxima Fusion was able to secure €20M ($21.7M) in seed funding in an oversubscribed round, joined by the German government backed DeepTech & Climate Fonds, Bayern Kapital, the Max Planck Foundation, and numerous existing investors, including Plural, UVC Partners, High-Tech Gründerfonds, Wilbe, and Visionaries Club.
The start-up directly builds on the revolutionary outcomes of the Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) experiment, the world’s largest stellarator housed within the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP), based on a €1.3 billion strategic investment from both the German Government and the European Union to enable fusion power research.
