Lincoln International: Advent International and Eurazeo have acquired Datatrans

As part of their co-operation and co-investment in Planet, Advent International and Eurazeo have also acquired Datatrans and will now co-own the company. Datatrans’ management team will continue in their roles to further the company’s successful development in collaboration with Planet.

Datatrans is Switzerland’s leading online payment service provider, with its own payment gateway and tokenization service platforms. Datatrans’ payment gateway solution covers the full technical processing of online payments while its tokenization platform, PCI Proxy, transforms confidential cardholder data into non-sensitive, universal tokens, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. In 2020, the number of transactions covered by Datatrans’ payment gateway and tokenization platforms was more than 170 million and approximately 1.7 billion, respectively.

Advent International is one of the largest and most experienced global private equity investors. The firm has invested $58 billion in over 380 companies in 42 countries and has $81 billion in assets under management.

Eurazeo is a leading global investment company, with a diversified portfolio of €25.6 billion in assets under management invested in over 450 companies.

Planet is a U.K.-based, leading global provider of integrated payment services, including acquiring, processing, digital wallets, value-added tax refund and currency conversion services. The company serves 600,000 customers and 100 partner banks across 70 countries.

Lincoln acted as the exclusive mergers and acquisitions adviser to Advent International, Eurazeo and Planet in this transaction, supporting all aspects of the deal. This includes valuation advice, industry knowledge and perspective, process management and due diligence. The transaction demonstrates Lincoln’s proven buy-side expertise. The parties have agreed not to disclose any financial details.
